Is in attendance a directive that allows you to preserve your phone #? My family is moving to a different house surrounded

My family is moving to a different house surrounded by a nearby town. The town have the same nouns code, just a different closure code. For some reason verizon is not letting us hang on to the same phone number. We enjoy moved different houses to different towns before and they've other let us. We own even switched phone companies and have other kept the same number. We live contained by NJ and I heard roughly speaking a law that allows you to hold on to the number, anyone know?

a short time ago switch and go to tmobile yes. for cell-phones and landline, but not for VoIP,,,,but they try very strong to port your number..

if you want to port a VoIP number, good luck next to that, they dont have to do it..
The network is not designed to enjoy a phone number from one rate center transferred to another. When you call, your phone phone is routed through the system, depending on the first three digits.

If you keep your number, you cant move too far away, because you will verbs the network. Your call wont work.
The directive you are referring to is in suggestion to LNP - Local Number Portability.

The law is primarily focused on keeping your phone number when "shifting carriers", within the "same local area".

The regulation now also applies to wireless services.

As you are "not varying carriers", then the ruling (to my knowledge) is not clear on this issue. The law is not clear on the issue of moving and varying address. As you probably moved to another telephone "exchange" nouns, Verizon probably doesn't want to mess with mixing any more exchange codes than they own to.

But, if you want to press the issue, you can try contacting the FCC and filing a complaint and see what their response is.

Otherwise, your best bet may be to find a exotic carrier, contained by which case the LNP ruling requires porting of number from your existing carrier to the hot carrier. Most influential is to remember to initiate request for LNP through your new holder "before" you pull the plug on Verizon. and, nearby will be a LNP fee to pay cheque ($25-50 depending).
