Answers:  Atrac is a Sony proposed format for compressed lossless recording of music. Being a compressed format technique it will take up smaller quantity space than an uncompressed audio file. Being lossless medium it will be an exact bit for bit copy of your original. However, this format may not survive and it may not be drastically compatible with different equipment.

The most all-inclusive compressed lossless format is .flac. This is an excellent format for archiving your music collection. From a .flac file any other report format can be created (ie. MP3), even to re-create an audio cd.

MP3's are a compressed lossy format, which can exist in different intrinsic worth. But, still it is a lossy format, which means that the nouns quality is to some point significantly degraded from the original source. In making the profile, information is lost.

An audio cd should be an exact bit for bit copy of your original cd.

Note: All copies, even lossless ones such as .wav, .flac, or an audio cd copy are slightly degraded from the inspired. The difference will probably not be noticeable except by playing through high-end systems to a trained ear.
