What are you playing them near? Could you be missing a codec for them? If you havent already, download VLC player, and try with that - http://www.videolan.org/ i'm assuming you enjoy already downloaded iTunes. when this kinda stuff happens its usually a software glitch. i would recommend reinstalling iTunes and making sure it is as up to date as possible. apple have been updating their software alot lately near the advent of new products so other make sure youa ccept the updates!!
