I feel for you, really. I also get an expensive player stolen at school a while ago. Really really stinks. The best you can do is suck it up, buy yourself a brand new one and try to keep an eye more on your stuff from very soon on.

theres nought you can do i don't think that you will find your iPod back as you could assume in the defence of mobile phones. Actually mobile phones are connected with some lattice and each mobile phone have a specific number called IEMI number. So whenever that cell phone will be lost and the being who has stolen or get this mobile phone, will operate it under any mobile phone net , the mobile phone will be tracked.
But here the case is a bit different contained by the case of iPod. iPod have the product serial number but don't have any operating exchange cards so that the tracking will be done.
Now you will be lucky if you will get your iPod from your college otherwise you have to settle down down and you need to forget that one. Really sorry but i deduce this is the answer and you also know it in better means of access.

My Freaking $700 iPhone get stolen, now I found out who it wuz and smash the $hit out of them, but for u. U need to turn wherever u bought it and ask them to motivate the "Sliver Chill". That means "Tracking Device Freeze", and it freezes the ipod and tracks it beside GPS, this only works if u enjoy a ipod Nano, Video, Touch and u needed to purchase it within 2005-2008 because stolen ipods get reported so many times and Microsoft/Apple started this program. If u met the requirments later it would be explained in ur ipod booklet.
only if you hold the serial number on the back written down. my vehicle got broken into and my ipod be taken, and my newer one is lost now also... i patently regret not keeping track of both those numbers.
if you do have the numbers you can turn it into the police and they bestow it to the pawn shops so that nobody can try to get rid of it to them. but if the person that stole it is a moment ago planning on using it there's really no way to procure it back.
