What can I buy that will allow me to put music, ringtones etc. on to my Media card directly instead of using a usb and connecting my phone?
P.S. it does not work when I try and download music through a USB onto my phone.

Well when you bought your Memory card it should hold came near a Adapter.
You can go buy one from any Electronic store. Here is a pic of what it looks resembling.

A card reader will tolerate you take the card out of the phone and consequently read the card like a disk drive.
A bluetooth dongle will allow your phone to communicate beside your computer over bluetooth. Some service providers disable file verbs over bluetooth, but a lot of smartphones will consent to you transfer files really easily.
