Answers:  Nope. The phone line is used by the beneficiary to call within orders for PPV programs you command through the receiver. If you do not want to writ PPV channels, later you can leave the phone dash disconnected. Obviously, DirecTV would like you to hold the line hooked up and organized so you can order more stuff.

The guest ID function is simply a convenience. If you have the phone connected to the addressee and you have tourist ID, the receiver can be set to flash the tourist ID text on your TV peak.
