If it is hd geared up you would know it because it would be heavily marketed as such. HD pertains to the resolution. If the tv's resolution is 1920x1080i or 1080p it's illustrious definiton. There are also hd tv's that have a resolution of 1280x720 they are hd as ably but if you have a hd dvd player you would not gain the full hd benefit using that tv because hd dvd is 1080p resolution.
