Whats the average time to convert DVD to divx/xvid?
Just a curious questions i merely downloaded and purchased DVDFab becuase magic dvd didnt make available good part, so i decided to do a second conversion on impossible to tell apart movie for some reason it have been going for very soon 4 hours and still on 1st pass still shows frame rate fluxuating but progress dowel at 100% and hasnt switch to second pass, any concept, either i can rescind it or maybe its merely there is alot of detials, any assistance would be greatAnswers:
preeeeetty sure thats illegal.
EDIT: i looked it up on whatisillegalandwhatisnt.com and it said it be indeed illegal! sorry! you lost!
There are many variables:
Size of DVD (is it DVD-9? 4.7GB...etc?)
What caring of processor do you have.
What aspect you are saving to surrounded by DIVX
What resolution (720x480?)
It can take hours and hours...not out of the norm.
damn, to be precise way to long for a movie. I use ConvertX and it take about 20- 30min. depending on the size of the movie, but it have neer taken that long. There is no rough average conversion time, this all depends on the type of processor, the programs support for dual/quad core enhancement, and last but not lowest possible the encoding bitrate of the video. I never use pay for play encoding programs because they habitually neglect showing you the meaningful technical information (frame details at the moment of leave behind change). The difference in chips is critical, it take about 2 and a partially hours for the AMD X2 64 to run a pass at 1mbps it take about an hour smaller number to run a pass on my other laptop (Core 2 Duo 800Mhz FSB and 1.8Ghz) take about 1 and a partly hours.
The conversion time depends on abundant variables. Resolution, bit rate, # of passes, CPU speed, etc. It's concrete to give you definitive answer. Frame rate can donate you some indication though. If a two hour movie has a commonplace frame rate of 25 - 30 frames per second, that would be 180000 - 216000 frames (2 hours x 60 minutes x 60 seconds x 25 FPS = 180000). At a 15 FPS conversion rate, a two miss conversion should take 6.6 to 8 hours to complete.
its crashed mate, 4 hours is average for a dvd to divx
