Can anyone explain why this is and suggest a remedy?
Answers:
check the cable - if the scart is a bit loose it can cause issues. A pink tinge can also be casued by fascinating interference. Try running your dvd player (but not connected to the tv) and see if that causes a problem to eyeshade on a standard channel.
Check your connections. You may have a inaccurate lead.

I know this..you own a Gay TV, must have be plugge dinto to a VD player. I've been have this problem with my unusual DVD recorder I've got it connected to my freeview box and the picture is fine when the player is past its sell-by date I checked the scart cables and they are brand different.
