You can do this but your computer must have S- video output if it doesnt you can achieve a video card that has this portion just connect the notebook to the tv through the s- video cable and it should work. google this so you can see for yourself.

The best be is if you have foreign HD TV, you probaby have an HDMI interface on your TV. If your computer have a DVI output, you can connect the DVI output to the TV HDMI input with an inexpensive DVI to HDMI cable.
