My first LCD TV...enormously confused!!? I just bought my first LCD HDTV (don't know
I just bought my first LCD HDTV (don't know if this matter but it's a Samsung-Model: LN-T5271)and was wondering what is this HDMI cable? Is that something that I requirement? If so, how do I know which to get?
Also, is it indispensable for me to call my cable company or will the cable box that I currently hold be fine? I have COX and the cable box I own is the same one I used on my regular ripened TV. Any other tips you have for me would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much.

HDMI cable allows yout o achieve the HD signal that you want from your HD cable box.
I stress HD because you have to hold the cable and you have to enjoy the special cable box. Otherwise you don't get the HD part. Cox is usually short on HD boxes but i'm sure they'll find one for you [at least where on earth i was]. Simply put...you inevitability the HDMI cable to get a competence High Definition picture on your new HD TV. I suggest you thieve the Manual that came near the new TV to your cable service center and carry a digital set top box (they'll know what you need). Then, take the encyclopaedia for the TV and the manual for the set top box to your nearest electronics store and they'll set you up next to the cables you'll want. There is NO NEED to buy the more expensive "Monstor Cable". A less expensive standard HDMI cable will do FINE.
Ok FIRST....Call your Cable company and receive the HD Cable box and get HD turned on....
When they come out to install the system, you speak about them you want them to use the HDMI input for your TV set...
They provide the cable at no charge....Well, EXCEPT for the Upgrade charge that is....
And you can sit posterior, relax and watch them do the setup.
Now when they enjoy everything connected....TELL THEM you want the cable box output SET to 1080,
AND
The Wide Screen <and> 4 by 3 aspect ratios set to FILL the SCREEN.(they other screw up the 4 x 3 ratio, setting it to pillarbox mode! )
Then I won't own to come out and set it up correctly.or somebody like me.
HDMI cables are the cable you will need to receive that 1080i 720p picture. They are expensive but if you can afford the tv, you can afford the cables. Cox should hold the HD boxes and DVRs. How else will they compete with DirectTV or Dish? If you hold anymore questions, telephone call me and I'll walk you through it.
