Consumer Electronics FAQ
Lcd or plasma?
ok.so which is best?which is cheaper to run?which has the best picture etc etc?Answers:
Plasma eyeshade is the better, but not by much, they are dearer than LCD to buy but cost around the same to run. if you buy an Lcd tv near HD ( High definition) this would be better than a plasma without. Good luck. Cathy
LCD its the best and more expensive. Your model and the signal are so good
Plasma has the best picture, but cannot be view from any angle.
LCD is only a slight worse picture but can be view from any angle.
They both cost the same to run.
Plasma's used to be more expensive, but have reduced surrounded by price due to various issues. The power pack last up to five years and can cost lb500 to replace.
We hold plasma's and have have for four years and none of them have have any problems, but I guess its down to personal choice.
near LCD you dont get any reflection so if the sun shines in the room or the table lamp shines on the tv, you can still see the picture x
umm no in actuality..Plasma cannot leak gas..and they clearly are impossible to be "recharged"
I'm not putting a vote in for plasma, but I am trying to catch the facts straight.
Both technologies hold a positive and negative. Arguably, the plasma have a slightly better picture, but if you get a biddable LCD the quality difference is minimum at best.
Purchase price are about one and the same when comparing w/ maybe a slight brink to plasma. Operating costs definitely side near LCD. They consume far less power. Plasma also produces more boil.
Longevity, this is where it get sticky, rated natural life is about equal for LCD and Plasma. However, plasma picture will probably fade quicker than LCD. Also, plasma has be known for burn-in. While it is smaller number common in a minute than the first gen. sets, it is still a problem at times.
Plasma uses a glossy eyeshade which can cause problems next to glare if your room have a lot of feathery. Most LCD uses a non-glare screen.
Plasma is not as desperate as people clear it sound, it does hold a place in some HT setups, but most folks opt for LCD now.
Salesperson told me and hubby that LCD was best and get to say hold had no probs thus far (touch wood!!).
Me.... PLASMA but it would hold to be a Panny
LCD is Ok but your still running the risk of a dead pixel
one white unresponsive dot in the peak ??
I have my Plasma for 5 years and its still a cracking picture and its first classmates and NEVER EVER had a problem next to it
Plasma-brilliant for movies and sport: better contrast(deep blacks and bright whites) and far better response times for hasty moving times. can be viewed from any angle(178*). They don't requirement to be "re-gassed", that's impossible
Best: Panasonic by a long-shot
LCD-brighter and more vibrant picture but lose picture clarity from an angle. Will only catch the same contrast and response time on LCD if you spend double if triple the price
Best: Panasonic(only in 32" and below), Sony or Philips
Overall plasma show true-to-life colours while LCD afford off brighter photo which may seem artificial at times. Both second around 15-20 years, there will be a slight loss of brightness within both sets but it will be so gradual you won't even notice.
Plasma enjoy glass eyeshade protection, this will produce reflection... but you could other close the curtains! Both use exactly the same amount of electricity.
But the best approach would be go to a store and look at both LCD and plasma at equal price and choose. It will be you sitting in-front of it! This examine has be asked so many times and my answer is LCD. A plasma blind operates by electronically exciting plasma gas. I am reliably informed that leak of the gas occurs and refill of the gas are needed - quite expensive.
If I intuitively were to buy one of the two it would unambiguously an LCD.
I suppose both have their pros and cons but at the closing of the day its a personal choice. For me and base on some of the answers I've read in days gone by LCD no question.
