Answers: Both get pretty angelic reviews.
They are both 1080p LCD active matrix base, both have HDMI connectivity, both adopt PC input. But the 52" is the better deal. It's a bigger eyeshade by 12" (a lot), has 120 Hz Auto Motion Plus (which not everyone will like). The 40" is reported to hold poor off-angle viewing characteristics, and the shiny screen can hold a reflection problem near ambient light. The prices are somewhat close (within $100 at the lowest priced supplier I found), so IF you can get it for a well-mannered price AND you can benefit from the 52" size the LN-T5271F is the better buy.
In reality, you are best to consider size first, after look for brand/model. The 50" is ideal at almost 6.5', while the 40" is ideal at roughly 5' for 1080p material (e.g. Blu-ray), but you will probably want to be almost 8' away on the 50" and 7' away on the 40" for HDTV.
If this is closer than you intend to watch you can reclaim a lot of money by considering a 720p model instead of 1080p ... you won't see any difference at 8'-9' or more, even on the 50" blind (7' on the 40") See the link for details.
