Best means of access to hook up my workstation to tv? i have a Samsung - 40" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD
i have a Samsung - 40" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV, and my computer specs are, 2.5ghz p4, 1gig knock against, 120gig hd, and a ATI RADEON X700 PRO, (256 MB) AGP Video Card. only outputs are dvi, monitor, and s-video. so how right would say a movie or spectator sport look via s-video?

S-Video would not be great as this is basically SD, just a little better. I would carry a DVI-to HDMI cable, as this will carry the audio as very well (your video card may not support audio, I'm not sure). I have a Samsung LCD HDTV as capably, and I use a DVI-to-HDMI cable and it looks better on the TV than it does on my high element laptop screen.
The standard VGA and s-video cable will not nearly give you as sharp a picture and black colors won't be as reflective. I've compared movies with adjectives 3 cables; the part of s-video and VGA monitor cables look like peas in a pod (not great). The DVI-to-HDMI will look great on your Samsung..better than it probably will on your computer screen.
Your video card should support the 1920x1080 resolution of your TV lacking problems
Check within the back of your tv and see if in that is a VGA hookup back at hand. Alot of the Samsung lcds have vga ports on the rear of them so you can hook them up as monitors and then run to the menu and the picture will auto adjust to your computer video card. You will get one hell of a picture that instrument. Personally I have tried the dvi to hdmi cable and the resolution would never come out right, and the s-video cable wont supply you a very right picture at all. Your best bet is using a vga cable.
s-video is about alike as a regular component cable (the red, white, and yellow one)
