Toshiba LCD 37" 37HL67 Won't Turn on? I currently have a Toshiba 37" Regza LCD TV

I currently have a Toshiba 37" Regza LCD TV that will turn on, flicker twice(One of them shows that the peak works perfectly), then will shift to a black screen. Does anyone know what is wrong beside the TV? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Due to us not being competent to find the reciept, Toshiba will not let us use our 1 year warranty. Thanks.

IF you bought it with a Credit or Debit card, the store (hopefully Best Buy or Circuit City or any other BIG BOX store) can in actual fact look up the DATE OF PURCHASE for you and generate a DUPLICATE reciept.

IF you know ABOUT what time you bought it..you can speed up the process of retrieval....

The KEY POINT is....you must take your TV set to an Authorized Toshiba servicer <<BEFORE>> your one year warranty expires !!
Finding the reciept is essential, but it is kinda secondary to making that TV appear past the TV Tech....

So.let's say TOMORROW your warranty expires.
GET IT THERE TODAY!! NOW!! NOT MONDAY!! NOW!
And reimburse the diagnostic fee so it's LOGGED into the system....

THEN Hurry and catch the Duplicate Purchase reciept from the store you bought it from..

I've dealt next to your situation before and you'd be surprised at how long purchase receipts are available on computer.

The more concise your purchase date is, the faster the store can carry a duplicate made.

And I think they may know how to retrieve it.if you gave them your address/zip code at the checkout counter.

Talk to the Store negotiator about that taking.

As for what's wrong with your TV...Since it FLICKERS (primes) it most probable is the BALANCER board for the backlight.that board sends an OK/Shutdown signal to the micro, and it must be issuing the shutdown command.

So Hurry....don't be jerking around near your warranty period.... This could be a problem near the backlight or the power supply. Unless you are a qualified electronics tech there is not much you can do on your own.

I wouldn't bestow up on the warranty. If you can go to the place of purchase they may know how to pull a account of the purchase. If you used a credit card you should be able to use the transaction register as a receipt. The serial number of the component should indicate the date of manufacture and can prove the age of the set. No situation what, call their service dept. and ask for better level supervisors until someone agrees to aid you.

Good luck.
