I just get a big tax return and a big downfall of the year bonus, so I am looking to spend it on a flat screen tv. The problem is I don't know which is better, Plasma or LCD.

IF you have kids...bring the plasma TV set. They are safer than the fragile LCD panels that kids enjoy thrown toys at and busted....
But if you want LCD....just turn to the local hardware store or lumberyard and get a piece of LEXAN and some VELCRO Tape and generate your own Protection Screen until the kids grow up and stop throwing toys.
That'll happen when they're roughly speaking 20 years old.
Other than that, I'd choose LCD because of the use of the system...
Though both hold advantaged and disadvantages, I would turn with the LCD. My girl say LCD if you play video games. Your game system will wear that plasma out and burn the metaphors into the screen.

Both are fitting but LCD for sure.
There are pros and cons for both plasma and lcd. The average price for plasma is still cheaper but lcd display get cheaper recently and the difference isn't much. They enjoy differnt display character. Some say lcd has better picture and some say plasma has better color reporduction. Lcd is more get-up-and-go efficient and lighter contained by weight, so easier to install on the wall. It's really your result depends on your need. I would dance to local retailer and compare similiar price unit considering the difference surrounded by size, let your eyes settle on. For myself, I would choose LCD over plasma.
