It is safer to turn past its sell-by date a tube by remote than by getting up and pressing the button? My wife told me that she heard this from

My wife told me that she heard this from a tv repairman and it sounds silly. I can read unplugging it from the wall(Maybe that is what he meant), but pressing the power button physically? Does it really engender a difference? Now I'm curious!

It's easier on the TV's electronics to push the button to turn it off. But using the Remote doesn't really hurt the TV any. It makes no difference. But, if you use the switch on the TV, and it breaks contained by the on position, you've got a problem. If the remote breaks, you can other use the TV switch until you replace it.
It does nouns a little "fishy" to me as in good health. The only logic I can surmise of is the button on the tv itself may wear out after awhile or, if it is pushed way to tough it may damage something inside the set itself. That, I hold seen beforehand.
But this would also apply to the remote and its buttons, I guess it is cheaper to buy a new remote vs. a current TV.
Good question!
Do you mean you might gain electrocuted? I've certainly never hear of this happening to anybody.
