Consumer Electronics FAQ

1080p Questions?

Well, first of all what is the minimum cost to catch a 1080p TV and is the smallest one a 37"? If a 32" could have it, would it be worth it?

What size would you best distinguish 1080p from 1080i?

Also, has anyone here regretted getting such a colossal TV and wish they'd own gotten a slightly smaller one? Because I find that a TV can just be a moment or two too big and bigger is not always better.

Thanks!

"What size would you best notice 1080p from 1080i?"
50" & up.
"Also, have anyone here regretted getting such a large TV and want they'd have gotten a slightly smaller one? Because I find that a TV can simply be a little too big and bigger is not other better."
Hell no. My TV is 60" and I love it. In 10 years from now when 100" is affordable you can bet your booty I'm gonna buy that!
Bigger is not other better if all your video source does not output HD.

If you can bring back a 32" to display full HD (1080p) then move about for it.
If you are watching ordinary video (480, 720), the pictures would still come out crisp because of the size of the eyeshade. If your tv is smaller number than 50" don't bother with 1080p. You can't share the difference in the smaller sets unless you are ridiculously close to it.

They are phasing out 720p sets because of consumer emergency for the 1080's (most people don't realize they are paying for something that they can't see) so picking up a 720 very soon would be wise. If you looking at LCDs, the faster rejuvenate and response rates, the better. Contrast ratio on any set is an important number too (the complex the better).

I have a 50" plasma i.e. 14' away (at the closest) and I don't regret it at all. I could hold gone with a 42" and it would own been fine but the larger size works for me.
